Emiliano Martínez e Piquerez have returned to Palmeiras after World Cup duty with Uruguay and trained on the pitch at the Academia de Futebol. Globo.com reports that the pair rejoined the group.

The Uruguayans have not yet undergone clinical, cardiological, biomechanical and strength tests, but they reported back without physical issues. The assessments will take place in the coming days.

The club also awaits the return of the Paraguayan trio after the national team’s elimination by France on Saturday. Gustavo Gómez, Mauricio and Sosa are expected to have a short break before rejoining.

Flaco López and Arias remain at the World Cup with Argentina and Colombia. Both play on Tuesday and could face each other in the quarter-finals if they beat Egypt and Switzerland respectively.

Monday morning’s session began with passing, build-up and finishing drills. Coaches then split the pitch into quadrants for defensive work. The squad were off on Sunday.

As in recent days, Vitor Roque took part in the warm-up and a portion of the work with the group. His ankle surgery recovery is ahead of schedule and is encouraging Palmeiras.

Palmeiras will train in two periods on Tuesday. Their next match is on 22 July against Coritiba in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, kick-off 19:30 at Couto Pereira.
