Palmeiras began a fresh week at the Academia de Futebol with left-back Piquerez and midfielder Emiliano Martínez back in full training, while Vitor Roque progressed in his recovery. According to Nosso Palestra, the pair returned on Monday as preparations for the season’s resumption gathered pace.
Both Uruguay internationals took part after their World Cup duties. They have rejoined the programme led by Abel Ferreira’s coaching staff for a pivotal second half of the year.
Early drills were positional, focused on passing, build-up play and finishing. The pitch was then split into four quadrants for a targeted exercise on passing and marking, with varied objectives set by the staff.
Vitor Roque, recovering from surgery on his left ankle, advanced his physical transition. Beyond the warm-up, the number nine joined the opening phase of the session with the squad, under the club’s Health and Performance department.
Work continues on Tuesday with a double session at the training complex. The break is being used to aid recoveries and fine-tune the group.
Top of the Campeonato Brasileiro, Palmeiras are scheduled to play on 22 July at 19:30 against Coritiba at Estádio Couto Pereira in Curitiba, in round 19. They also remain in the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil last 16, set to face Cerro Porteño and Fortaleza respectively.
