Enzo Fernandez’s agent reacts to Real Madrid links in wake of club statement | OneFootball

Real Madrid are in the market for a new midfielder, and one of the most prominent links has been to Enzo Fernandez. The Chelsea and Argentina star is a player that Bernabeu officials have been aware of for some time – back in 2023, they even tried to sign him when he was still at Benfica, but he ultimately ended up in London.

It’s taken for granted that Fernandez will leave Chelsea this summer, after the Premier League side failed to secure European qualification of any kind following a dismal 2025-26 campaign. Real Madrid were reported to have made moves towards signing the 25-year-old, whose agent Javier Pastore spoke to Marca earlier this week to clarify the situation.

“Today the player is calmly thinking about the National Team, he is playing in a World Cup, he is very close to going through to the round of 16… He is thinking only about that and we are looking at possibilities to leave Chelsea. He has many friends (in Madrid), and he is very good friends with Julián Álvarez, and in the end all the time they can spend together they are together there. And I’m also living in Madrid. Every time he travelled, he travelled to see me and to fix work things, but aside: who doesn’t like Madrid? I didn’t play in Madrid… I even live there.”

Real Madrid have since denied plans for Fernandez move

Pastore’s comments came prior to Real Madrid releasing an official statement to clarify their own stance on a move for Fernandez, in which they confirmed that no move had been made for the Chelsea man, nor was one planned. That will be a disappointment for a player that is reportedly very keen on continuing his career at the Bernabeu, although it will be interesting to see who ends up being the one to join Mourinho’s squad.
