Ethan Ampadu backs Tarik Muharemovic to settle at Leeds after March reminder | OneFootball

Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu says new signing Tarik Muharemovic will fit in at Elland Road, praising his ability and character. The centre-back joined from Sassuolo in a £34million deal on a five-year contract and will replace Pascal Struijk at left-sided centre-back.

“We played against him in March [for Wales vs Bosnia] which was a bit of a reminder. We could see his quality in that game, we could see the way fans and the club are talking about him,” he told BBC West Yorkshire Sport.

“He’s a young player with a lot of quality and a lot of potential so it’s very good for us. We met him before he went away and he seems like a great guy as well so one that’s going to fit in really well. I think it’s quite easy to fit in well here.”

His move was confirmed last week, with a post-World Cup break briefly paused to finalise the transfer and meet his new captain. Muharemovic was on World Cup duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina and is expected to join the USA-bound squad after his break.

Another arrival settling quickly is Harry Wilson. The 29-year-old is two weeks into his Leeds career, has been seen in training, and is well known to Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Daniel James with Wales. He recorded 10 goals and seven assists in the Premier League last season, his best top-flight return.

“I think everyone saw more last year, maybe because he was coming towards the end of his contract which gets people talking about you in a different way. But his quality, his left foot, the way he works for the team and himself.”
