Daniele Adani has no doubts that runaway leaders Inter Milan ‘deserve’ to win the Scudetto this season.
Speaking to Nuova DS via FCInterNews, the former Fiorentina defender assessed the Nerazzurri’s impressive season.
Despite Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Torino, Cristian Chivu is on the verge of winning his first Serie A title as a manager.
Furthermore, the 45-year-old is one step away from becoming just the fourth coach in Serie A history to achieve that before turning 50.
Indeed, it’s only a matter of time before the San Siro giants dethrone reigning champions Napoli.
With only four games left to play, Chivu’s men boast a huge ten-point lead over Antonio Conte’s side.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri could put the Scudetto race to bed next weekend, when they face bottom-half Parma at home.
Meanwhile, Adani is adamant that Inter have been the standout side in Serie A this season, highlighting their consistency and quality.
“I think, overall, it’s a draw worth analysing,” Adani said. “Inter will win the league with three or four games to spare. It’s not something to be taken for granted.
“Then you can assess how much the opponents dropped off, but Chivu has been clear in saying we should stop talking about the best defence winning.
“He has insisted that teams play at high intensity, press, and try to score lots of goals. You can lose direct clashes, but if you always play to win, you can slip up. It’s the seventh consecutive season that Inter have scored 100 goals.
“Inter deserve it, full stop. They have a high goal difference because they may concede a few more, but they don’t have the best defence – they play to attack.
“Over the years, Inter have built themselves up,” Adani continued. “They returned to being competitive with Spalletti, Conte gave them the decisive mentality for the breakthrough, and they won. From there it started.
“They didn’t collect much in the league but reached two Champions League finals. Chivu inherits that, adds his own touch, and wins by playing football. That’s how you win.
“To win, you have to deserve it, and to deserve it, you have to play.”
