Former midfielder and coach Marco Tardelli says that he “trusts” Cristian Chivu at Inter Milan, and that Marcus Thuram is “decisive.”
Tardelli gave his thought’s in the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He nevertheless stressed that Chivu “needs patience” and also praised summer signing Petar Sucic.
Cristian Chivu is three months and six matches into his Inter Milan coaching career.
The Romanian had a highly successful playing career with the Nerazzurri. He spent six years at the club, and was a key player in the European Treble win during the 2009-10 season.
Furthermore, Chivu also did well coaching Inter at several youth team levels.
However, taking charge of the first team was always going to present a different kind of challenge for Chivu.
The Club World Cup gave mixed signals. Inter had a solid enough group stage, but exited the tournament early in the knockout rounds against Fluminense.
And then, the start of Chivu’s first Serie A season at the helm has been similar.
Inter began the league campaign with a bang, demolishing Torino 5-0.
However, in Chivu’s second Serie A match in charge, Inter squandered an early lead to lose 1-2 against Udinese.

Marco Tardelli said of Chivu that “I trust him.”
“But be careful about that judgment,” he continued. “Inter, against Torino, were already the most entertaining team in the league along with Napoli.
“But then came the slip-up against Udinese,” he noted.
“We’ve only seen 180 minutes,” Tardelli said of Chivu’s reign at Inter in Serie A. “We need to be patient and balanced.”
“He’s young,” Tardelli said of Chivu. “And he knows football.”
“It isn’t easy to inherit Inzaghi’s legacy,” he added. “But I think that he can connect with the players, and the whole environment.”
Meanwhile, Tardelli commented that “One of the most interesting new signings is Sucic.”
“He moves well,” the former midfielder and coach said. “He knows his position, and he’s daring.”
“His assist for Thuram against Torino showed technique and class,” Tardelli praised Sucic.
Then, Tardelli gave his thoughts on the player who could be key for Inter against Juventus next weekend. “Thuram,” he said. “He’s just getting more and more decisive.”
