QPR and Leicester City are eyeing moves for Myles Peart-Harris following the winger's release from Oxford United, Football League World understands

QPR and Leicester City may find themselves in different divisions following the Foxes' shock relegation to League One, but the two sides remain operating in the same markets this summer and are both in the race to snap up a free agent who featured in the Championship last season, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The Hoops will be hoping for a more consistent campaign at Championship level after Julien Stephan's debut season in West London resulted in a 15th-placed finish, though transfer business has already begun at Loftus Road with the free transfer capture of Dutch full-back Boy Kemper.

As for Leicester, a wholesale rebuilding process awaits in the aftermath of successive relegations from the Premier League to English football's third-tier under freshly-appointed head coach Russell Martin.

A litany of high-profile players are expected to depart the King Power Stadium in the coming weeks and months as Leicester look to balance the books, stop the rot and hit the reset button following a tumultuous two years, and Martin is heading underway with transfer plans in an effort to build a squad capable of gaining promotion out of League One at the very first time of asking.

Football League WorldConor Chaplin and Ryan Wintle as departures from Ipswich Town and Cardiff City respectively are prepared - and another recently-released player has now emerged on the club's radar as they look to fend off QPR's emerging transfer threat.

The player in question is Myles Peart-Harris, who is set to become a free agent after Oxford United opted against extending the short-term deal he penned to sign at the Kassam Stadium from Brentford back in January.

FLW understands that Peart-Harris' availability has placed both QPR and Leicester on alert, with the two sides now eyeing up moves for the versatile winger ahead of a potential summer swoop.

With the 23-year-old's terms at Oxford set to officially expire tonight, he will be free to sign for any club as a free agent and QPR and Leicester are preparing plays to snap up his services.

The former England and Chelsea youth prospect's signature could represent a particularly attractive one on the market considering his relatively young age to possess free agent status, while he has also accumulated a solid body of work over the last two years in the second-tier.

Capable of operating on the left wing or more centrally as an attacking midfielder, the playmaker scored three goals from 19 appearances at Oxford but was unable to prevent the U's relegation to League One.

Having briefly returned to Brentford, Peart-Harris previously spent the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Swansea City and contributed with three strikes and four assists in 29 matches - 18 of which were starts - for the Welsh outfit.

After failing to earn extended terms at Oxford, however, it does appear as though a switch to League One could be the next course of action in Peart-Harris' career as he looks to realise his undoubted potential.

QPR''s interest is genuine, though, and while it could surprise supporters somewhat, Stephan is intent on bolstering his attacking options alongside amending the well-documented defensive issues at the Frenchman's disposal, and has identified Peart-Harris as a low-risk target ahead of next season.

Indeed, QPR were linked with Peart-Harris back in the summer of 2024 before his temporary switch to South Wales, and with the talented wide-man representing a long-standing target for the Hoops, there's every chance they could finally land their man.

Exactly where Peart-Harris ends up only awaits to be seen, but the winger's name is already on the wishlists at both QPR and Leicester and he's only likely to attract further suitors if the two sides fail to amplify their interest.
