Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described his team as extraordinary but admits they are missing something which would take them to the next level.
The Blues were dumped out of the Champions League in the week, after a 5-1 aggregate loss to Real Madrid. With Arsenal nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table, City are at risk of missing out on all the big prizes this season.
“I have the feeling that in many things we are just underneath,” said Guardiola. “It will flourish. I have the feeling that it’s close.
“In other things we need a little bit more time for the players to realise what we need to be. Strong teams in many, many departments. But in most of the things we are close.

“In many aspects we are an extraordinary team,” the Catalan continued.
“Otherwise, we would not be top eight in the Champions League. We would not be second in the Premier League, final of the Carabao Cup, and the quarter-final of the FA Cup. We know that after nine months, we would not be here.”
Asked what exactly it is that is missing, he answered: “I know, I know it. I will not tell you, I know. The players know it.”
City’s boss added: “Have control through the ball. That always has been and always will be until the last day of my dream. So, have the ball to do it and create chances.
“We have the ball, we create chances. That is the idea of the type of players that we want to do from day one until the last day.”
