Liverpool have lost Mo Salah.

The Egyptian King, 34, reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.

Salah departs as a Liverpool legend but his last season at the club was soured slightly due to a fallout with the club’s top brass including Arne Slot.

The two-time African footballer of the year is now free to choose his next destination and there is no shortage of suitors.

Salah's next move: Options assessed

European interest is represented by teams in Serie A like Roma and Juventus - although Italian sides will have severe difficulty in reaching Salah’s salary demands. Others - such as Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas - have also been linked.

The most likely option has always looked to be Saudi Arabia. Al-Ittihad made a £150m play for the left-footed forward back in 2023 and the interest has never gone away.

They - along with Al-Ahli - could end up making a lucrative offer this summer in order to bring Salah over to the Saudi Pro League.

Romano: Concrete MLS interest in Salah

Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Salah is a major target for Major League Soccer.

Having spent the summer in North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Salah could end up heading back stateside to wrap up a deal with American suitors.

Sporting Kansas City are the latest name in the frame for the wide forward - with San Diego FC also named as suitors due to their Egyptian ownership.

Romano says Salah now has two big options - in Saudi Arabia and the United States - and right now a surprise move to MLS cannot be ruled out.

It's either Saudi Arabia or MLS for Salah

“For Mo Salah don't underestimate MLS,” Romano tells his YouTube audience.

“No one spoke about Salah in the MLS till a few weeks ago. And I told you Mo Salah has for sure two possibilities. One is to go to the MLS. The other one is to go to Saudi.

“Well from the MLS there is a concrete interest in Mo Salah. So it's a serious possibility to see the Egyptian King after leaving Liverpool on a free moving to the MLS.

“So keep an eye on that one.”

Salah would command a blockbuster salary in Saudi Arabia but his next move is likely to be determined by more than financial considerations.

“From Saudi obviously, financially they are offering a big big package,” Romano states.

“So the interest in Mo Salah from Saudi is I would say historical. Long time ago they started trying and negotiating for Salah. Liverpool never wanted to let him go.

“Now Mo Salah will assess all the options with his agent Ramy Abbas and decide what is the best possibility for his future.”
