Leeds United have joined the chase for Sassuolo centre-back Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth making contact in recent weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Nicolò Schira claims four Premier League clubs are in the frame, naming Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle United and Bournemouth. He reports Sassuolo value the defender at about €40m, roughly £34.1m, and that Sunderland are preparing talks over €35m to €40m, around £29.8m to £34.1m. The proposed contract is said to run to 2031 at €3.5m per year plus bonuses, about £3m annually, near £57,000 per week, and remains unconfirmed.

The latest update does not indicate a formal Sunderland bid, but it underlines that the Black Cats are exploring a move for the 23-year-old.

Any deal is complicated by Juventus retaining a 50 percent sell-on clause from Muharemović’s switch to Sassuolo. They would be due half of any fee and are well placed should they try to bring him back to Turin.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed centre-back is under contract until 2031 and is a senior Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
