Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United ‘enter the race’ as Sunderland pursue Sassuolo defender | OneFootball

Fabrizio Romano reports that Leeds United have entered the race for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth making recent enquiries. He adds that Juventus retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause and must now decide their stance.

Sunderland want another centre-back for Régis Le Bris’ squad this summer and have been linked with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international. There is no suggestion of a formal bid at this stage.

Juventus’ clause would entitle them to half of any fee Sassuolo receive, and it could strengthen their position should they seek to bring the defender back.

Muharemović made 32 appearances in all competitions for Sassuolo last season, including 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed centre-back is under contract until 2031 and is a senior international for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At present, discussions remain exploratory and no agreement is in place.
