According to Sunderland Echo, Leeds United have entered the race for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth making recent contact over a potential move.

Sunderland want to add another central defender to Régis Le Bris’s squad this summer, and the club are exploring the 23-year-old as an option. There is no suggestion of a formal bid at this stage.

Juventus retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause from Muharemović’s switch to Sassuolo, meaning they would be due half of any fee and would need to make a decision on any sale. Their stance could also strengthen any attempt to take him back to Turin.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed defender is under contract until 2031 and is a senior Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

The competition now includes Leeds alongside Sunderland and Bournemouth, leaving the chase finely poised. Any progress will depend on club talks and Juventus’ position on the clause.
