Chelsea were taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in the summer of 2022, and despite vast investment in the playing squad the results haven’t been good enough.
Despite winning two trophies last season, the Blues have qualified for the Champions League once in the last four seasons, not to mention the high turnover of managers.
Fans have protested against the ownership on multiple occasions throughout the season, with there simply no trust in BlueCo.
The appointment of Xabi Alonso as new manager is at least a step in the right direction, but Chelsea have got to act differently in the transfer market.
The Blues have a heavily youth focused recruitment policy, but it’s obvious they lack leadership, know how and experience.
Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, bur fans will only believe it when they actually see action taken.
However, despite the wide spread criticism, Rooney has actually praised the ownership and jumped to their defence.
“I’m going to praise the Chelsea ownership,” he told The Wayne Rooney Show as quoted on X.com.
“They are obviously clever people, but I think they’ve realised they’ve messed up and now they are trying to fix it. So fair play to them for doing that.”

Jamie Carragher believes Xabi Alonso is a fantastic appointment for Chelsea, and could help keep some of their top players without Champions League football.
