FC Twente host Groningen in the Eredivisie on Sunday, 22 February 2026 in Enschede, with the hosts chasing European play-off places and the visitors seeking to halt a four-match league losing run.

Seven of the recent head-to-head meetings between these sides ended level, including November's 1-1 in Groningen, though FC Twente won the last two home league fixtures 2-0 and 3-0.

FC Twente thrashed Heerenveen 5-0 earlier this month and followed up with a 1-1 draw at Telstar. Groningen's form has dipped, with four straight Eredivisie defeats since a 2-0 win at Heerenveen.

The hosts are without Ricky van Wolfswinkel, their leading league scorer on eight goals, plus defenders Robin Propper and Mees Hilgers and forward Taylor Booth. Groningen list Mats Seuntjens, Tika de Jonge, Jismerai Dillema and Yénio Holder as injured.

Across the season FC Twente have averaged 55% possession with 81.49% passing accuracy, scoring 37 and conceding 25. Daan Rots has six league goals, while seven penalties have been converted, so mistakes in the box could be punished. Groningen have 30 for and 30 against and deliver frequent open-play crosses, 330 at 18.48%, with Brynjolfur Willumsson on six league goals and Stije Resink supplying five assists.

FC Twente sit seventh on 35 points and a win would strengthen their grip on the qualification play-offs. Groningen are ninth on 31 and victory would take them to 34 points and could move them into the play-off places.
