Fiorentina have been handed encouragement, with Football Italia reporting that Real Madrid are only willing to loan Franco Mastantuono within Europe, rather than back to River Plate.

The teenager turns 19 next month and cost €45m when Madrid signed him from River Plate last summer.

Game time has been scarce and his frustration is growing.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly told the Argentina international to seek a loan this season, although there is said to be tension behind the scenes.

Mastantuono is said to favour a return to River Plate, yet that stance from Madrid limits him to European options.

That leaves Fiorentina as leading candidates, aiming to present themselves as another Como for Nico Paz, offering a place to play and develop. They still need to convince the player this is the right step for his career.
