Sunderland are shaping their summer transfer plans and could look to the Championship for value, with five potential options identified.
According to Sunderland Echo, they want to build on an impressive first season back in the Premier League and may complement their overseas scouting, which yielded Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra, with domestic targets.
Jeremy Monga, Leicester City: as it stands he will not be a Championship player next season after the former Premier League champions suffered another relegation into League One. The 16-year-old winger made 29 appearances and is already an England Under-19 international, though patience would be required.
Mihailo Ivanovic, Millwall: cover and competition for Brian Brobbey could be enhanced by the 21-year-old Serb. He has nine goals this season and his influence has stretched beyond the numbers. He could yet be in the top flight if the Lions complete promotion.
Zan Vipotnik, Swansea City: the Slovenia striker hit 23 goals in 43 league games and ranked among the division’s most ruthless finishers. There will be rival interest and a sizeable fee is likely, but he could fit the profile.
Ollie Arblaster, Sheffield United: the midfielder has worked back from a serious cruciate ligament injury and now has 21 appearances in all competitions. A Blades academy graduate, he had already marked himself out as one of the league’s standout midfielders.
Harvey Vale, Queens Park Rangers: the former Chelsea prospect joined on a free after loans at Hull City and Bristol Rovers. Since then, the Republic of Ireland international has four goals and 19 assists in 31 outings, regularly unsettling Championship full-backs.
