Florian Wirtz excited by Jürgen Klopp Germany appointment as Liverpool watch closely

Florian Wirtz has said what many expected. He is looking forward to working with Jürgen Klopp for Germany, and he did not try to dress it up.

Klopp, appointed earlier this month on a four-year deal, now takes charge of the national side with Wirtz expected to be central to the plan. For Liverpool, that matters. Wirtz remains one of the club’s biggest talents, but the level since his move has not consistently matched the fee, the billing, or the expectation.

After a World Cup that brought some personal encouragement without lifting Germany where they wanted to go, Wirtz gave his first public reaction to Klopp’s arrival. Speaking during Liverpool’s pre-season work in Chicago, he said, “It’s very, very cool that he’s there now.” He added, “I’ve not spoken to him yet but a lot of people here at the club told me about him, that he is a fantastic guy. All of Liverpool loves him. So, I’m very excited to meet him in a few months.”

Klopp Germany link matters for Liverpool

This is where it gets interesting. Klopp knows the demands at elite level, knows the pressure around big clubs, and knows how to get intensity out of attacking players. Wirtz needs that push. He has had flashes for Liverpool and Germany, but flashes are not enough when you are wearing No. 7 and expected to run games.

There is logic in thinking Klopp could sharpen him quickly. The relationship will start properly during the extended September international window, and Germany will want Wirtz as a creative reference point from the outset.

Florian Wirtz needs more than promise

Liverpool will be watching because a confident, decisive Wirtz helps everyone. He is 23 now. Potential is no longer the story. Output is. If Klopp can unlock more aggression, more authority and more end product in Germany colours, the benefit could carry straight back to Merseyside.

And there may yet be another layer. Germany could meet the Netherlands in the Nations League, with Liverpool keeping an eye on how several familiar names fit into that picture. For Wirtz, though, the message is simple. He sounds ready. Now he has to deliver.
