Fluminense beat Grêmio 2-1 at the Maracanã as second half goals from Nonato and Luciano Acosta made a winning start to their Brasileirão season.

Nonato stabbed in from close range in the 46th minute to break the deadlock. Acosta then swept in Renê's corner (59.).

Tricolor Gaúcho hit back when Carlos Vinícius finished from close range after Gustavo Martins kept the move alive (75.).

Weverton kept the visitors in contention with four saves. Fábio later tipped over José Enamorado's effort in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time.

After Marcos Rocha came on at the interval and Cristian Pavón followed (60.), the right flank gave Tricolor Gaúcho a route back. Flu responded with Ganso (78.) and Jefferson Savarino (79.) to see it out.
