Former Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been appointed as the new boss at Algerian Ligue 1 outfit ES Setif.

The well-traveled Serbian mentor put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year deal, which is set to run until June 2027.

Micho had been unattached since parting ways with Sudanese giants Al-Merriekh in April 2025, ending a four-month spell at the club.

The 56-year-old tactician has a vast amount of experience on the African continent, having also coached Zamalek SC, Young Africans, Al-Hilal, SC Villa, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda and Libya.

He guided Uganda's SC Villa to three consecutive league titles in the early 2000's, before repeating the feat with Kidus Giorgis in Ethiopia, in addition to lifting the Egyptian Cup with Zamalek.

Now, Micho is set for a new chapter in Algeria, with Setif currently languishing in 12th place after playing 10 games in the 16-team championship this season.

The eight-time Algerian champions have accumulated 11 points and sit just two points clear of the relegation zone, having registered a solitary victory in their last six league outings.

Setif will return to action with a visit to MC Oran on Thursday, 20 November. Meanwhile, Micho has joined Rulani Mokwena, Sead Ramovic and Josef Zinnbauer in the Algerian topflight.
