Former Sunderland target Jhon Lucumí is attracting interest from Juventus, Roma and Bournemouth, and his future is unlikely to be settled before the end of June, according to Tutto Juve.
Lucumí has a €28 million release clause that runs until mid-July, and no club is currently thought to be ready to trigger it. The report said Bologna could then negotiate around €20-22 million, roughly £17.5-£19.3 million.
The Bologna defender was among Sunderland’s leading targets after promotion to the Premier League, with bids and wage proposals submitted. He was believed to be open to the move, but Bologna, having lost other key defenders, refused to sanction a sale. Sunderland later chose not to revive the deal in January.
The 27-year-old joined Bologna from Genk in 2022 and has become a mainstay. He has made 149 appearances, won the Coppa Italia in 2024-25 and helped the Rossoblù qualify for the Champions League.
This season he leads the side with 168 defensive contributions in Serie A, averaging 1.4 interceptions and 0.5 blocks per 90 minutes. Those returns rank first and second among Bologna players.
With only one year left on his contract, this summer may be Bologna’s last realistic chance to bank a significant fee. The possibility of talks below the clause could encourage suitors to wait.
