Foulquier sits out Valencia group training before Betis trip, precautionary? | OneFootball

Corberán’s Valencia visit Real Betis at La Cartuja on Sunday seeking a third successive LaLiga win, but right-back Dimitri Foulquier did not train with the squad on Tuesday.

According to Superdeporte, Foulquier worked away from the main group, while Copete left the collective session before the end as part of his plan.

Valencia’s treatment room currently includes Agirrezabala, Diakhaby, Tárrega and Thierry, which weakens the defence. Even so, Cömert and Copete featured in the last match and the arrival of Unai Núñez has reinforced the centre.

Pellegrini’s side have less recovery time following Thursday’s European tie and carry a lengthy injury list. Valencia have not won away to Betis since 2019, when Marcelino was in charge.

Foulquier started this season as first choice because Thierry had been sidelined since last term, playing the full 90 minutes in the first seven LaLiga rounds. Once the Portuguese returned, he reclaimed the starting role. At times they played together, with Foulquier acting as a third centre-back and Thierry owning the flank.

With Thierry out again, only a possible rotation with Iranzo or even Rioja could reduce Foulquier’s minutes.
