William Saliba will miss France’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup Group Stage game against Norway, as confirmed by assistant manager Guy Stéphan, who is standing in for Didier Deschamps.

Deschamps has returned to France in order to attend the funeral of his mother, who passed away earlier this week.

Saliba will miss the encounter entirely and it is Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix who will play in his place. There will be other changes in the defence in the form of the return of Théo Hernandez and a first World Cup start for Malo Gusto. In midfield, Aurélien Tchouaméni is set to come in for Adrien Rabiot.

Désiré Doué is expected to replace Bradley Barcola, but the rest of the forwards who started in the win over Iraq are set to start.
