Frankfurt face fight to bring Kalimuendo back from Nottingham Forest | OneFootball

After Arnaud Kalimuendo impressed on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt in the second half of last season, the Bundesliga side have been in talks with Nottingham Forest over the possibility of signing the Frenchman on a permanent basis.

However, no agreement has been reached yet, and although Bild reports that Kalimuendo has already agreed personal terms on a contract until 2031 with Eintracht Frankfurt and remains hopeful of a return, the move is becoming increasingly complicated.

One complicating factor is new Nottingham Forest head coach and former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner, who is an admirer of the French striker. 

Glasner recently praised Kalimuendo after he scored in a 2-0 friendly win over Notts County.

“Every player who is here gets the chance to show up. So far, everybody is very ambitious and hard-working in training. Everyone deserves to play and show what they are capable of,” Glasner said when discussing Kalimuendo’s future, according to the Nottingham Post.

"He had a fantastic game today, not just with the goal he scored. He found very good positions between the lines.

"The transfer market starts to heat up. We don't really know what will happen in the next few weeks – so many things can happen. Right now he is a player of Nottingham Forest and he gets the chance, like everyone else.”

Eintracht Frankfurt had a €27 million purchase option for Kalimuendo but decided against activating it, instead hoping to negotiate a lower fee with Nottingham Forest.
