Gasperini can finally breathe a sigh of relief after a difficult week.
The defeats against Inter and Plzen had created discontent, but the victory in Reggio Emilia has brought Roma back to the top of the table, tied with Napoli.
The coach, however, as reported in Il Messaggero, is preaching calm and prefers to “banish” the word Scudetto: “I’m not thinking about it. If we are like this, it’s not enough: I’m happy, but we need to grow. The league is balanced and there are many strong teams. Let’s keep our feet on the ground. In the Europa League, however, we made a bit of a mess.”
He then adds: “We won’t qualify for the Champions League just because we have a full stadium; we also need the team. But I want to try straight away and not waste time. I get angry on the bench because I always want more, not so much tactically—we’ve evolved there—but we need to grow technically.”
Their away form is impressive: four wins away from the Olimpico this season, and by 2025, no one has won more than Roma (12 wins).
Parma arrives on Wednesday, aiming to reverse the trend at home: “We’ve lost too many games in front of our fans, and we’re disappointed because the Olimpico is always buzzing with enthusiasm. We want to provide excitement: if they expect us, we have to make up for our difficulties.”
