Gasperini reacts to Roma’s defeat at Cagliari: “We made errors that cost us the match.” | OneFootball

Roma fell at Unipol Domus, suffering their second consecutive defeat after the one against Napoli. Zeki Celik’s red card effectively decided the match against Gasperini’s team.

“In this case, everything seems clear to me, unlike Sunday against Napoli,” the Giallorossi coach commented on the refereeing decisions in his post-match interview with DAZN.

“With ten men, the game became difficult,” the coach added, “even though we managed to avoid any danger for a long time, it was still difficult to build. In those conditions, the game becomes a battle and it was difficult to create anything. We made some gross errors that cost us the game, both on the red card and on the goal, and then with ten men it becomes difficult.”

Gasperini commented on his players’ performance: “Cagliari played a lot of these long balls. We needed to do something more technically, but it wasn’t easy. Cagliari gave their all, and we could certainly have done better in the first half. In the second half, there were opportunities to create difficulties, but the sending-off affected the match.”

Regarding the tense finale, the coach concluded: “At a certain point, the game lacked football, often fragmenting. It definitely wasn’t a game we should have played in these conditions. We weren’t able to recover, but sometimes games go like this; the best we could have done was to finish the game. The boys all played with maximum commitment.”
