Ghedjemis value ‘has doubled’ as Celtic and Rangers battle for Frosinone talent | OneFootball

Frosinone are facing an all Glasgow bidding war after Celtic confirmed they are fighting Rangers for the signature of Fares Ghedjemis, as ‘his transfer value has doubled’ since January.

The Algeria international winger turns 24 in September and played a key role in securing Frosinone’s promotion from Serie B last season, as he contributed 15 goals and three assists in 37 games.

His contract with the Canarini only runs to June 2028 and clubs are lining up to make offers, including both Glasgow giants.

Ghedjemis wanted in Glasgow

Sky Sport Italia confirmed Rangers are pursuing Ghedjemis, and Celtic manager Martin O’Neill admitted they are still in the running too after a failed January 2026 swoop.

“I don’t know whether Rangers are trying to sign him. But we have a very strong interest in him. I don’t know about the other thing,” said O’Neill.

The asking price was believed to already be a minimum of €15m and Frosinone director Piero Doronzo revealed why the move to Celtic did not go through in January.

“There was a genuine possibility that Ghedjemis could leave in January after a very important offer came in from Celtic,” Doronzo told Radio Sportiva.

“The President always says Frosinone is not a prison, so he wanted to hear what the player had to say. Fares replied: ‘No, I want to stay at Frosinone and win the league.’ It was a risk, but his intentions and the courage of the club to turn down that money were rewarded.

“As of today, his transfer value has doubled, and he was decisive for us.”

It had been reported that the offer from Celtic in January was circa €7.5m, but that has surged now thanks to his performances.
