Napoli have announced the signing of former Corinthians forward Giovane from Hellas Verona. According to Meu Timao, the agreement is valued at 20 million euros and includes a five-year deal with an option for two more. Payment is due at the end of the season as the move begins as a loan with an option to buy.
Corinthians will receive one and a half per cent of the fee via Fifa’s solidarity mechanism, around R$ one point five million.
Despite Hellas Verona sitting bottom of the Italian top flight, Giovane has three goals and four assists in 23 appearances. Napoli intend to back the 22-year-old and, in future, obtain a significant financial return from any eventual sale.
In his final months at Corinthians, he was overlooked by Ramón Díaz and Dorival Júnior, playing only three times in 10 months after declining to renew his contract. Earlier, Hellas Verona had bid one million euros but there was not enough time to finalise the move. Corinthians would have retained 15% of his economic rights, which today could be worth R$ 18 million.
Giovane, a Terrão graduate, joined Corinthians in 2021 on loan from Capivariano for the under-20s. He shone at the 2022 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior and trained with the first team after the tournament.
Later in 2022, Corinthians bought 65% of his rights for about R$ three million. He left in early June 2025 after a consensual termination, having made 48 senior appearances, scored four goals and won the 2025 Campeonato Paulista.
