Goretzka turns down Atlético move, will leave Bayern in summer | OneFootball

Leon Goretzka has rejected a winter move to Atlético de Madrid and will leave Bayern Munich in the summer.

The player said in a post that he will stay with Bayern until the end of the season.

Goretzka has been at the club since 2018 after a 40 million move from Schalke 04, winning one Champions League and six Bundesligas.

He is honoured by interest from leading clubs but has decided to remain until the season finishes. Following constructive discussions with Bayern, both parties agreed their successful spell together will end after this campaign.

Atlético, led by Mateu Alemany, had been working on a January deal and were targeting a difference-making midfielder rather than simply another option. Madrid has been mentioned as a possible destination once he leaves.
