Manchester United will be heading into Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace in buoyant form after recording back-to-back wins in which they have scored a combined 10 goals.

Things were looking dicey for Erik ten Hag heading into the international break with the team having lost three out of their four games in all competitions.

INEOS had given the Dutchman four games to spark a turnaround or risk the sack and his team certainly responded, recording a 3-0 win against Southampton before a 7-0 demolition of League One Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

This is the perfect time for the Red Devils to face the Eagles as they seek to extract revenge for their 0-4 capitulation at their hands towards the fag-end of the previous campaign.

Revenge time for EtH

The team from Selhurst Park lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and have not started the new season in the way they would have liked, and are yet to win a game so far.

In further bad news, the London team will be without four stars including key midfielder Cheick Doucouré and on-loan defender Trevoh Chalobah, a target for United in the summer.

On the Chelsea man, manager Oliver Glasner said, “He’s progressing, but he’s not available tomorrow. We expect him back with the team next week.

“The same with [Matheus] França, his recovery has gone quicker than expected. He did training yesterday and today with the team. It’s still a little bit too early [for him to play]; he will train next week, but he’s coming back.

“Just [missing] are Chadi Riad and, unfortunately, Cheick Doucouré. He has some [injury] to do with the tendon on the toe. We will miss him for several weeks. The tendon has to heal, so it’s a little bit of a bad situation for him, but he will be back in a few weeks.

“Of course, he [Doucouré] was sad, but he had a lot pain during the [Leicester] game and after the game, and now we, and him as well, are pleased that it’s not so serious because it was so painful that there was a worry it was a serious injury.

Big injury miss

“It’s not – it’s several weeks. He was out for eight months, so several weeks is a short period. He’s already working for his comeback.”

Palace have been susceptible to counter-attacks and Doucouré’s absence could be a big blow. However, young midfield ace Adam Wharton has been declared fit after he missed the club’s midweek cup fixture.

United target Eberechi Eze is also expected to feature and the 20-time English league champions will need to be way of the England international.

A familiar face will be in goal for the Eagles, former United star Dean Henderson while another transfer target Marc Guehi will be marshalling the backline.
