Grégory Bettiol remains anchored in his native Beaujolais, where family tradition keeps the vines in sight and the land feels a haven of peace.
According to Le Progres, he began football at Liergues aged four.

At nine, he enrolled in OL’s summer camps at Hauteville, where he was noticed.
He joined OL in June 2002, the year of the club’s first title.
His first coach at OL was Patrick Paillot.
