Grêmio’s new hierarchy, together with head coach Luis Castro, have made an attacking midfielder the first priority for the next window. GZH reports that the plan is part of early work to shape the squad for the coming season.
Despite an oversized squad and the need to move players out, recruitment mapping is already under way.
The focus reflects inconsistent displays from Cristaldo and injuries suffered by Monsalve in 2025. The club believes a proven option is required in that role.
Prospects Riquelme and Gabriel Mec will be assessed in the opening matches of 2026. Using academy talent forms part of Luis Castro’s sporting plan and is set to be applied next year.
In recent days, the club asked about Palmeiras midfielder Raphael Veiga, but no positive response arrived, so other options are being studied. Preference remains for a Brazilian player.
