Two members of Grêmio’s coaching staff, psychologist Marisa Santiago and analyst Lucas de Oliveira, have been called up by Brazil for the World Cup, joining Carlo Ancelotti’s working group.

Lucas has also served at Flamengo, Palmeiras, Athletico and Ludogorets in Bulgaria, and was with the national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and 2022 in Qatar.

Marisa called the chance to represent Brazil at a World Cup a source of pride and responsibility. She said it recognises a career dedicated to sport and player development, and that she is pleased to contribute in an elite environment.

Lucas spoke of immense happiness and gratitude for the opportunity, thanking the CBF for its trust and Grêmio for providing the conditions for daily excellence. He said the call-up allows him to represent both the Seleção and his club.

Beyond the pair, Weverton was named on Ancelotti’s preliminary list for Brazil, while Balbuena and Villasanti with Paraguay and Amuzu with Ghana await potential World Cup call-ups.
