Grêmio receive Nacional loan offer for Cristian Olivera | OneFootball

Nacional have submitted a one-year loan proposal, with an option to buy, for Grêmio forward Cristian Olivera, with the Brazilian club confirming the approach but denying any agreement.

"Yes, he is going to play for Nacional. A loan and an option to buy," said vice-president Flavio Perchman on Wednesday, speaking to Aweno TV.

Club representatives and an intermediary held talks on Wednesday at CT Luiz Carvalho, and Grêmio directors say they are still evaluating the bid.

Olivera has told Grêmio he wants to join Nacional, and his preference is seen as decisive in the outcome. In Uruguay, confidence around a deal is high and the move is viewed as a matter of time.

The Uruguay forward was among Grêmio’s most expensive recruits in 2025, alongside centre-back Wagner Leonardo, costing 4.5 million dollars, R$ 25.6 million at the time. His spell in Porto Alegre has fallen short of expectations.

Olivera had off-field issues, including delays returning from Uruguay duty and unauthorised interviews. In one, he publicly criticised coach Mano Menezes for dropping him after Willian arrived.

He made 37 appearances for Grêmio, scoring six goals with two assists.
