Grêmio have opened talks to extend goalkeeper Gabriel Grando’s deal, which runs until October 2026, but the 25-year-old has received an offer from an unnamed club that is affecting negotiations. A decision is expected in the coming days.
According to Globo.com, the new hierarchy want him to stay. Under the previous regime he rejected a renewal, and in May Palmeiras’ attempt to sign him was rebuffed by Grêmio. Grando is seeking improved terms and a run of games, either at Grêmio or elsewhere.
First-choice Tiago Volpi had strong spells in the Brasileirão but ended the year on a low after errors late in the campaign. He has denied receiving offers to leave and remains under contract for one more season.
Head coach Luís Castro will be directly involved as the goalkeeping picture is shaped in the coming weeks. Grêmio continue to monitor Palmeiras veteran Weverton, though the club are not willing to release the 38-year-old, who is tied to them until the end of 2026.
Jorge, signed from Pelotas this year, and academy product Thiago Beltrame complete the group overseen by goalkeeping coach Mateus Famer. Castro brings Portuguese Daniel Correia into the role, the former goalkeeper having worked with Sporting, Vitória de Guimarães, the Venezuela national team, and alongside Castro at Al-Duhail, Botafogo, Al-Nassr and Al-Wasl.
