According to Globo.com, Corinthians made contact with Grêmio to take defender Wagner Leonardo on loan. Grêmio intend to keep the player for now.
Even so, a deal involving Wagner Leonardo is not ruled out, particularly if it is a sale. A player swap with Corinthians had been discussed internally.

Corinthians are currently under three transfer bans and cannot register new players. The interest in the defender is not recent.
Grêmio recently held talks with Vitória over Wagner Leonardo, but the sides did not agree on how to settle the debt still owed from his 2025 purchase.
Alongside Kannemann, he is one of only two left-sided centre-backs in the Grêmio squad.
