The city has captured his family’s heart. According to Superdeporte, his wife, Gudalupe, shared a stream of photos from recent months on social media, writing that Valencia had them over the moon.

The montage ranged from a tender family shot with their young daughter in a Valencia shirt to clips from Mestalla, scenes from their home, a terrace asado and a trip to the mascletà.

Keeping Rodríguez is the club’s first item on the agenda. Valencia are preparing to move on a deal, though a meeting did not produce an initial offer.

The club want him to stay next season, but must act quickly with other sides monitoring his situation. Interest is not only from Europe, with teams in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others in South America also watching.
