Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland scoring twice to continue his blistering start to the season.

Bournemouth nearly stunned City inside the first minute when Eli Junior Kroupi bundled the ball home, only for offside to be flagged.

That wake-up call lit a fire under City, and Haaland put the hosts ahead in the 17th minute, racing onto Rayan Cherki’s header and calmly slotting past Djordje Petrovic.

The visitors hit back almost immediately, though. Tyler Adams reacted fastest to a fumbled punch from Gianluigi Donnarumma to level the scores at 1-1. But Haaland wasn’t having it, restoring City’s lead in the 33rd minute with a composed finish around Petrovic, marking his 13th league goal of the season.

City looked comfortable for the rest of the first half, with Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Cherki all going close, though Petrovic kept Bournemouth in it with some smart stops.

After the break, City wrapped up the win in the 60th minute. On his 200th Premier League appearance, Foden teed up academy graduate Nico O’Reilly, who fired a crisp low finish to make it 3-1.

The Cherries had a few late chances, but City’s defence and Donnarumma were solid, seeing the points safely home.

The result lifts City into second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Arsenal, while Bournemouth’s unbeaten start comes to an end and they drop to fourth.
