Olympique de Marseille manager Habib Beye said that he was satisfied with CJ Egan-Riley’s performance against Monaco, despite being defeated on Sunday evening. Beye also revealed that the Englishman has picked up a thigh injury, which throws doubt over his involvement against Metz next weekend. “Leonardo Balerdi only trained once in the build-up to the game,” said Beye at a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “We were really happy with CJ before the match and we didn’t want to take a risk with the yellow cards and injuries.”“He played really well on the ball,” added Beye on the former Burnley man’s performance. “I told him he would be under pressure from Balogun and I thought he dealt with it well all the time. Unfortunately, he injured himself himself which is bad because I think he is a very good option for us. We don’t know for how long we will lose him.” Egan-Riley has had a mixed season so far for OM but started his second Ligue 1 match since Habib Beye took charge of the side. An England U21 international, Egan-Riley is also eligible to play for the Irish national team. GFFN | George Boxall – reporting from Stade Louis II, Monaco
