According to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is nearing a major milestone as Barcelona manager as he prepares for his 50th La Liga game. Irrespective of tomorrow’s result, the German is set to hold the fifth-best record at this stage among Barça coaches.

Luis Enrique leads the way with 124 points, which is no surprise given the calibre of players he had at his disposal. Interestingly, Xavi Hernández sits second with 118 points from his first 50 La Liga matches.

Next come Guardiola and Valverde with 117 points each. Flick’s Barcelona currently have 113 points, which could rise to 116 with a win against Vigo tomorrow. That would place him fifth on the list of the club’s managers.

In terms of wins, only Enrique and Xavi have more than Flick in their first 50 games. The German has done very well given the constraints he has faced, but this also underlines just how good, and underrated, Xavi was.

Let us hope Flick can cap his 50th La Liga game with a victory over Vigo.
