Leeds United striker Harry Gray has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan for 2026/27, noting the club’s season-ticket numbers as a key draw.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old’s second temporary move away from Leeds was confirmed on Tuesday. He will spend the League One campaign at Hillsborough.
Gray had a first taste of the division with Rotherham United from January to May. A change of ownership at the end of last season brought a party atmosphere at Hillsborough, and he said the club’s backing influenced his choice.
He said several clubs were interested but choosing a club of Wednesday’s size felt straightforward. He pointed to the figure of 24,000 season tickets in League One, noted the benefit of a full pre-season to settle, and said Hillsborough feels special when the fans get going. He thinks, with everything around the club, this should be a season to remember and called it the perfect place for him.
Sporting director Simon Wilson said Gray’s elite youth record and his spell at Rotherham showed he can translate those qualities to senior football. He added that Wednesday’s playing identity will create plenty of chances, and they expect Gray to be a major threat to opponents. He thanked Leeds for trusting the next phase of the teenager’s development.
