Manchester City have been linked with numerous potential targets to explore over the course of January, with Omar Marmoush joined by profiles in central defence and in defensive midfield.

Elsewhere, and Manchester City have already publicly denied an intention to chase either Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes or Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi during the January transfer window, largely due to concerns over their availability and the cost required at this stage.

And while several reports are now beginning to raise the prospect of the aforementioned Marmoush joining the Etihad Stadium club this month, many supporters have been left awaiting more reliably confirmation of the status of a potential deal, until now.

Responding to a question from one user on X regarding Manchester City’s reported chase of Eintracht Frankfurt and Egypt international Omar Marmoush, MailSport reporter Jack Gaughan has offered the latest on the transfer pursuit.

“It’s the same as on Friday: he (Omar Marmoush) wants to join this month and (Manchester) City are working on it,” Gaughan wrote on X on Tuesday afternoon.

For now, it appears as though the situation remains Manchester City needing to appease Eintracht Frankfurt directly, and find a proposal that will satisfy the demands of the Bundesliga club, with a fee of around £50 million being mooted in some quarters.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s director of football, Markus Krosche spoke recently on the subject of player sales as the club goes in search of UEFA Champions League football for next season, to which he stated, “We don’t want to lose so many key players.

“I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable, but we want to keep the team together. I talk about (Omar) Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”

Pep Guardiola may be quizzed on general transfer activity when he faces the media on Friday afternoon, ahead of Manchester City’s return to FA Cup duties with a third round tie against Salford City on Saturday evening.
