Hernan Crespo takes Atlas job four months after São Paulo exit | OneFootball

Hernan Crespo has been appointed head coach of Atlas, four months after his São Paulo dismissal. According to L'Équipe, the Argentine took the job on Friday.

It is his first role in Mexican club football. He previously managed Banfield and Defensa y Justicia in Argentina, and had two spells at São Paulo.

He had been out of work since March. At that point São Paulo were top of Brazil's Serie A after four matches. They are now eighth after 18 rounds.

Crespo, 51, is a former Argentina international with 64 caps and 35 goals, and played for several Italian clubs including Parma, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

He began coaching after retiring in 2012. His honours include the 2020 Copa Sudamericana with Defensa y Justicia, the 2021 São Paulo state championship and the 2024 Asian Champions League with Al-Ain.
