Ian Wright, renowned for being one himself, knows a clinical forward when he sees one.

Much to Manchester United fans’ delight, he has spotted some pretty outstanding traits when watching Benjamin Sesko, particularly after his last two performances.

Why Benjamin Sesko is impressing as of late

The Red Devils frontman is enjoying his most prolific run of form in a red shirt, notching a hugely impressive six goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League, Sesko has been responsible for claiming eight crucial points through his contributions; he returned a brace against Burnley under Darren Fletcher in January, which ended 2-2 at Turf Moor, as well as a vital last-gasp equaliser in the 1-1 draw with West Ham just over a fortnight ago.

As for the victories he’s helped get over the line, the 22-year-old scored the winner in injury time to overturn Fulham at the start of the month, and the only goal of the game in United’s maiden trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night against Everton.

Such efforts have fans (and Gary Neville) anticipating that Sesko is in line to make his first start of Michael Carrick’s reign for the visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, given that his decisive contributions have come off the bench in shorter cameos than he’d like.

Wright would certainly like to see the striker involved from the off, as he was taken aback by the quality of his recent displays.

“You know what’s good about it is that people will underestimate, the ball’s come across to Sesko, coming off the [bench], his concentration and finish was so [good], honestly,” said the Arsenal legend on Stick to Football, as cited by UtdDistrict.

“[He had] a long time to look at it, and this is what I’ve said, people underestimate, right, people underestimate, they think that’s easy because it’s just him and the goalie.”

Wright continued: “But that finish and the contact, again, remember when I said about going to the basics? When it’s coming, the timing… it was fantastic. And he’d done the same with that goal where he curled it in the top corner [vs West Ham].

“But you know what, I’ll tell you again, because I always look at the replay and watch this

“His whole demeanour, he’s going to score, because he didn’t even, he didn’t look at the goalie, he didn’t look at anything because you know when he’s coming there, you’re going right back in.”
