Cardiff City striker Callum Robinson has bullishly reacted to drawing Wrexham away from home in the EFL Cup fourth round
Cardiff City and Wrexham AFC supporters both rejoiced at Wednesday evening's EFL Cup round four draw, which will see the two Welsh outfits face off for the first time in more than 20 years next month.
An exchange of divisions last season saw Wrexham seal their third successive promotion under Phil Parkinson and a long-awaited return to English football's second-tier, whereas Cardiff dropped into League One for the first time since 2003 but have started the campaign in strong form.
The Bluebirds are currently fourth in League One ahead of Saturday afternoon's trip to Wigan Athletic, having suffered defeat for the first time this season against league leaders Bradford City last weekend, and have married uplifting early-season form with a rare run in the EFL Cup.
Brian Barry-Murphy's side overcame League Two pair Swindon Town and Cheltenham on home soil before claiming a major scalp over Premier League Burnley at Turf Moor earlier this week, setting up a pulse-racing all-Welsh tie with the Red Dragons.
Wrexham defeated two divisional rivals in Hull City and Preston North End, along with League One Reading, to progress to round four, and both sides will be intent on taking all the bragging rights and booking their place in the quarter-finals.
Cardiff supporters are feeling rather bullish about next month's mouth-watering trip to the Stok Cae Ras, and popular striker Robinson shares that sentiment.
The versatile forward, who finished as Cardiff's top scorer with 12 strikes as they were relegated from the Championship and has found the back of the net in each of his side's last three matches, believes that Wrexham's second-tier status will represent another "good challenge".
However, Robinson is bullish about the Bluebirds' chances and dismissed any feeling that Wrexham will be the favourites heading into the tie.
When asked about that, Robinson responded: "No, not really. I don't think.
I think the way we've started the season, we're in a positive mindset which was shown on Tuesday night against a top team. And it's shown throughout the season.
"It'll be a good challenge for us. They're in the Championship, they've brought a lot of players in, they've got a big squad. Fair play to them, they've got up there and if you get to the Championship, obviously you've earned it.
"But I think, us boys, we've started fast, we've done really well and I feel like there's nothing to fear.
"There was probably more fear of going Tuesday night to Burnley, away against a Premier League team, than there is probably going to Wrexham. We'll give it a go and try and get through to the quarters."
Robinson's reaction is understandable considering that Cardiff not only overcame, but indeed outclassed, Premier League opposition away from home on Tuesday night.
There is, of course, a palpable feel-good factor surrounding the Welsh capital club, with new positivity and excitement in the air following an impressive start to the season and the emergence of a clutch of young, talented homegrown academy products playing an aggressive and attack-minded brand of football under Barry-Murphy.
So, Cardiff do have every right to fancy their chances but the same applies for Wrexham, who will look to their higher league status as a source of confidence as they prepare to welcome the Bluebirds to North Wales.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will be eyeing the draw against third-tier opposition as a good opportunity for Wrexham to progress to the competition's quarter-finals stage for the first time since the 1977/78 campaign.
Ultimately, though, it's a hard fixture to call, with both sides sure to leave everything out there on the pitch in a showdown where little love will be lost, in a bid to advance to the final eight.
