The Foxes' recent managerial decision has generated mixed reactions

Leicester City's recent fall from grace has, unsurprisingly, generated plenty of attention on developments at the King Power Stadium, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

The Foxes, 10 years ago, had been crowned Premier League champions in what has often been dubbed as the greatest underdog triumph in the history of modern sport.

However, since then, expectations have certainly changed in this part of the East Midlands for various reasons, and now there is an immediate pressure on the club to achieve automatic promotion from League One back to the Championship, having suffered back-to-back relegations from the top-flight to the third tier under a backdrop of intense financial uncertainty.

In recent times, there has certainly been plenty of turnover in the dugout and in the playing squad at Leicester, and that is set to be the case this summer too, as the club's hierarchy look to balance the books after being relegated alongside Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday with what has been ESTIMATED as the Championship's highest weekly wage bill.

A six-point deduction for a prior breach of the EFL's PSR regulations, naturally, played a major part in the Foxes' downfall, but neither Marti Cifuentes nor Gary Rowett were able to halt the slide which culminated in just a second-ever season in League One since the club's formation in 1884.

At the beginning of the off-season, there had been intense speculation as to who would take charge at the King Power Stadium, all whilst Rowett is still technically in charge until the expiration of his contract on June 30th.

However, the new campaign will mark a new era following the recent appointment of Russell Martin on a three-year contract, and the club's decision has sparked a reaction from 200-goal ace, Jamie Vardy.

Vardy, 39, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in the early weeks of pre-season after an exit from Serie B outfit, Cremonese, who were relegated from the Italian top-flight at the end of last season despite his total of seven goals in 29 league games.

The striker only departed Leicester 12 months ago, but it is fair to say that the current hierarchy are not fully in the good books of his family, as recently revealed by his wife, Rebekah.

That is despite links of a return to the East Midlands amid the appointment of Martin, as well as his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday, which he has seemingly quashed on his latest episode of the 'Jamie Vardy's Having A Party' podcast with Manish Bhashin and former Leicester teammate, David Nugent.

He was then asked to offer his thoughts on the appointment of Martin at the King Power, months after he was dismissed by Rangers after winning just one of seven Scottish Premiership games, which came after a mixed spell at Southampton.

"At the end of the day, I think you have to look at where Leicester are (and) what league they're in," said Vardy.

"Is it probably the best they could have got? Yes," he added. "Has his career gone as good as he would have wanted? No.

"Obviously (he) did well at Southampton but then went to Rangers and it was the complete opposite. Only time will tell with that and he just needs some help.

"I think the main thing is if he's wanting to play a certain way then he needs to be given funds to bring his own players in to help him go that way."

Vardy's stance on Martin is one which City supporters will likely share, especially given the fact several high-profile names are still set to depart.

There have been reports that the 40-year-old could receive a £10m minimum transfer budget, while the likes of Ben Nelson, Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Monga have been the subject of intense transfer interest, with the 16-year-old expected to move to Premier League champions, Arsenal.
