The Croatian defender has completed a loan move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Kocaelispor.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Kocaelispor have agreed a loan move for Hrvoje Smolcic, who will spend the rest of this season with the Turkish top-flight club. The promoted Süper Lig side then have an option to buy.
The centre-back moved to Frankfurt from Croatian top-flight club HNK Rijeka in summer 2022, signing a contract until 2027. He made a total of 32 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, in which he scored two goals.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at LASK in Austria, where he made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga, ÖFB Cup and European competitions, and registered three goals and one assist.
The Croatian now joins Kocaelispor until the end of the current campaign. The club from the city of Izmit returned to Turkey’s highest division in May after 16 years.
