Spanish media split after Atlético thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in Thursday's Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

Diego Simeone's side scored all four before half-time.

AS praised the manner of victory and said Atlético had one and a half feet in the final after a recital against a Barcelona reduced to 10. Marca called it a lesson and deemed the first half historic.

In Catalonia, Sport labelled it a total disaster and said Barcelona crashed to their worst display of the season. Mundo Deportivo spoke of a red and white whirlwind and the worst first half of the Hansi Flick era, adding that a miracle at Camp Nou would be needed to reach the final.

Mundo Deportivo also reported that Barcelona were considering filing a complaint to the RFEF over the officiating, arguing VAR failed on Garcia's disallowed goal and that Giuliano Simeone should have been sent off for a foul on Balde.
