Chelsea thrashed Port Vale 7-0 at Stamford Bridge to advance to the semi finals of the FA Cup, and book their trip to Wembley.

It was the perfect afternoon for the Blues with seven different goal scorers, and a rare clean sheet as they stopped a run of four consecutive defeats.

Cole Palmer shares thoughts on Port Vale win

Liam Rosenior named a strong side, with Palmer named in the number ten role, with Estevao and Pedro Neto on the wings.

The England international was surprisingly named captain, and whilst he wasn’t able to get amongst the goals, Rosenior praised Palmer for how he led the side.

It’s been a difficult season for both Palmer and Chelsea, but the England international feels the win should give everyone a lift ahead of next weekend’s clash with Manchester City.

“It’s nice to see everyone getting involved [with the goals] and laughing, joking and smiling after the game,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“I think it will give everyone a lift. Playing, winning and scoring goals is good for everyone.

“Getting back to that winning feeling was nice and hopefully we can take that on to Manchester City.”
