The defender, 35, has enjoyed four remarkable years on Tyneside after joining in the 2022 January transfer window, when the Magpies were sitting in the relegation zone.

Since then, Trippier has captained his side in cup finals and UEFA Champions League clashes, earning fan-favourite status at St. James' Park.

Confirming his summer departure on Saturday, Trippier told Newcastleunited.com: "I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You've always supported me, always stood by me.

"To my teammates, it's going to be emotional. It's been an amazing journey with you guys. I'm going to miss you all, but to win a trophy with you guys was really, really special - the best of my career."

Trippier's contribution to United in recent years has been praised by both manager Eddie Howe and sporting director Ross Wilson, with the player himself focused on ending the Premier League season on a high in black and white.
