Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois is hopeful of marking his return to the pitch in the club’s upcoming showdown with Barcelona.
Goalkeeper Courtois has for his part not featured in a competitive setting since back in mid-March.
This comes owing to a muscular injury suffered during a Champions League meeting with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Belgian has missed seven successive fixtures as a result.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Spain’s capital is anything to go by, then Courtois appears to be inching back towards the pitch.
As per a report from Real Madrid insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE:
‘Thibaut Courtois is continuing to improve in his recovery, and hopes to be able to make it to the Clásico on May 10 in Barcelona.’
The former Chelsea man has already been ruled out of this weekend’s La Liga meeting with Espanyol, in the knowledge that by the time the Clásico rolls round, Barcelona could already have been crowned Spanish champions once more.
